ABOUT THE HUMAN
Jay Atara left Bukoba, Tanzania, and reached the United Kingdom at ten, unable to speak English and stepping into a world that felt like another realm entirely. Indian in heritage and Tanzanian in early formation, he arrived shaped by both, in a country still learning how to see him.
Jay grew from graduate trainee to Chief Financial Officer, and led through the global financial crisis and the pandemic. He sat in boardrooms, carried the titles, and delivered results, all while carrying a silent exhaustion he could not name, and beneath it an emptiness he could not explain.
In late 2022, he broke down, and the life he had assembled no longer stood.
This book came from what he did not understand then, but understands now: that identity outlives every title.
He writes as someone who has failed, risen, broken, unlearned, learned and grown, and who is still walking the journey in these pages.
